One of the endearing elements of working for Freshpet is the care we take in feeding all kinds of pets including those up for adoption in shelters and rescues. Our high quality Freshpet dog food and cat food help many pets regain their strength after entering a shelter or recovering from medical procedures. We work with over 50 shelters and rescues across the country, to bring every pet fresh food, including Linda Ann’s Greyhound Rescue, Kansas City Sheltie Rescue, Secaucus Animal ShelterThe Sanctuary at Haafsvilleand Mid-Atlantic Basset Hound Rescue, just to name a few.

We also aid our network of shelter partners in their adoption efforts on our Freshpet Facebook page and Twitter by promoting pet holidays like #NationalMuttDay, #AdoptADogMonth and #AdoptACatMonth. Each one of our shelter and rescue friends have websites and social pages, and one of the easiest ways to spread the word is to share what they’ve posted with your friends.

Our relationships with our shelter network extends beyond promoting their adoption and providing Fresh Pet food donations; we are proud that we great relationships where we can both share our talents. For example the dogs and cats at Salt Lake County Animal Services have shared their acting talents in our Santa Elves and Holiday Feast videos.

For every share of the Santa Elves video, we pledged to donate one meal to a rescue or shelter in need. If you haven’t already, you can view and share the Freshpet Elves video here and on the Freshpet Facebook page to donate one meal to a rescue or shelter dog or cat in need.

Our own Freshpet elves dropped off some of the meals to one of our favorite shelters, the Secaucus Animal Shelter, a few weeks before the holidays. We donated some of our favorite recipes, including Vital Complete Meals, Freshpet Select Slice and Serve Beef Roll, and Vital Balanced Nutrition Slice and Serve Chicken Recipe. One volunteer even asked for the Dog Joy Turkey Bacon treats by name, a favorite at the shelter.

Check out our Freshpet Reviews to see more about the recipes we donated.
