Where are you from?

I’m originally from a dairy farm in Ireland, Ballivor – a small village 40 miles outside Dublin.

Before coming to Freshpet what was your career background?

I worked in the pet food business in Dublin. I then backpacked around the world for a few years and somehow made my way back to pet food in Australia.

Can You Tell Us a Bit About Your Role Here at Freshpet?

I’ve been here since the beginning in 2005. I was around when we were just delivering food in a van. But then we realized that this was a much bigger opportunity. I mostly work in the fridge department, as well as pet specialty sales and Canada sales.

What is your favorite thing about working here?

Sales calls are fun for me. I’m dog food salesman at heart.

Any Memorable Stories That Stand Out Since Starting With Freshpet?

At one of our first sales meetings with a pet store, they expressed to us that fresh food for pets was going to be big. They asked us “Can you guys supply this on a national scale?” We said absolutely, and once we left that office we knew we would have to build out our Kitchens FAST. We figured it all out in time, but this was when we first realized this business was going to be huge for us. It made us really excited.

Do you have any pets? Tell us a bit about them. What’s their favorite meal?

At home we have a hamster named Jack. We are considering getting a dog for the family. A Labradoodle or maybe a Cockerdoodle. We travel a lot so we haven’t had time to yet, but with 3 boys we’re getting pressured.

What’s Your Favorite Thing About the Freshpet Foods That We Offer?

The smell. Freshpet actually smells fantastic. I enjoy rich foods and consider myself a food buff. I really enjoy the fact that our pet food smells like real food, and it’s simply because it is real meat and vegetables.
